Global Circulation of Knowledge: The Concept of Race in Japan from 1920s to 1970s

Her dissertation looks at the concept of race in Japanese physical anthropology and human genetics from the 1920s to the 1970s, and how it was circulated on a transregional and supranational level. Her project aims to explore to what extend knowledge from Japan was incorporated in the setting of global standards on racial research, as the UNESCO statements on race, and to what extend these standards influenced racial research in Japan.
